Fancy a Sunday run?
Doing anything this Sunday afternoon (Sept 12)? If not, then come on, be part of our friendly Handicap Relay and picnic with the Rutland Runners!

Beginners through to club fasties are encouraged to join in, with relay pairings balancing out timings for a nice even match around the circular route.

Bring a picnic for afterwards and we'll meet at the car park (£3 parking) at Whitwell at 2pm for pairings to be arranged. The winning pair will receive a bottle of wine each; and we shall roundly cheer 2nd and 3rd placings with a loud "Hurrah"!

Interested? Nick's put full info on the Club Events thread of the forum or e-mail Nick and tell him you want to be part of the fun.

Out in force for Grimsthorpe
Well done to all 60 Striders who ran the 10k at Grimsthorpe Castle on Bank Holiday Monday.

Not only did Stamford have more team-mates there than any other club, but was also announced to be the friendliest running club around (well, we all knew that anyway!) thanks to the huge support you gave each other coming up that dastardly hill to the finish line.

Philippa Taylor was first lady runner in 39m13s and a full two minutes ahead of the next woman to cross the finish line. Philippa, Briony James and Maxine McInulty were first placed women’s team.

The first three Striders to finish were Simon Fell (39.09) in 16th; Paul Massingham (39.10) in 17th and Philippa in 20th.

Hereward Relay 2010
It’s big (it’s usually bitterly cold) and it’s back on Sunday November 28. It can only be the Hereward Relay – 38.4 mud-splattered miles, ready and waiting for Striders to take on.

Teams of 4 can enter now, and it would be brilliant to build on last year’s strong Stamford turn-out. Each runner takes a leg of the course (between 6 and 11 miles) to complete the Peterborough to Ely distance, with their team-mates driving along armed with hot drinks and warm clothes to greet them at the hand-over point for the next stage.

It’s great fun and a fantastic way to get to know other Striders, so whether you’re a beginner or an old hand at the Hereward, add your name to the list in 'Club Events' on the Forum or, if you can't yet log-in, send us an email.

Relay Handicap
Great to see so many of you at the Relay Handicap and Club Awards.

52 runners took part in the handicap relay - 26 pairs - our largest entry for the event ever thanks to so many of our newest members coming along to join in the fun. Well done to everyone who took part!

And a huge thank you also to the Striders, partners and friends that came along to support the race and to act as marshalls - we couldn't have run it without you.

Congratulations to the winners: Julie Morris and Mark Greenwood - a combined winning time of 68 mins 31 secs. Second place went to Claire Watkin and Iain Cameron (69:12) and in third place was Josh Jordan-Boddey and Pete (sorry didn't get your surname!) in 70:24.

Race results can be found here.

Algie and Alan's big feat
Algie Audas and Alan Hayes showed true grit in the new Fat Feet Grimsthorpe Ultra 70.

Having set off on the non-stop 70-mile run at 10am on July 23 they both crossed the finish line early the following morning - sore but smiling.

Algie completed the course in 15hrs 41mins and took 15th place, with Alan finishing in 17hrs 17mins and 19th.

Congratulations both - a truly awe-inspiring achievement!

Philippa is Grand Prix winner
Philippa Taylor strode to victory on home turf at the Stamford 5k to claim the Peterborough 5K Grand Prix Race Series Championship title for the third year running.

With a hat trick of wins under her belt, Philippa has taken the overall women's title with one race still to run in the five-race summer 2010 series.

Philippa was first lady in this year's Eye, Ramsey and Thurlby 10k races, in the Heckington 10 mile, and first female veteran at the prestigious Lord Mayor's 5K in Norwich.
