"Started running just over 10 years ago. Enjoy everything, Cyling, Eating, DRINKING and best of all, very challenging events that include obstacles that test your strength and endurance, mud and water also helps. Spending time with the running club has always guaranteed a good time with lots of fun and laughs."

"I've been running for many years starting back in the eighties, my racing distances are usually 10k or half marathons. I like running best in the spring/summer and finding new off road routes to train on. Its great to run in a club with so many like minded people."

"After running for almost 30 years and having done most runs and distances you'd think I'd had enough of running but I still love it. My favourite runs now tend to be anything thats a little bit different, such as x-country, multi-terrain, run-bike-runs and mud and more mud (lovely!). Besides my passion for the club my other one is Guinness."

"The new boy to Stamford, came from Wales and moved here about 5 years ago. The natives seemed quite friendly so I decided to stay."
"Even though I spend most of my life in front of a computer, I am a marital arts instructor and also enjoy running, mountain biking and hill-walking. I'm also studying to become a personal trainer."

"Have been running about 15 years after retiring from Moto-X and Sidecar Grasstrack. I needed another challenge, my sister Sue suggested I should try running. Now I will do most events as long as it creates a challenge, the harder it sounds the better, but as I'm getting a bit older with a few more aches I've taken up photography to help me relax on those recovery days."

"I've run for well over twenty years and have been involved with the Striders as a runner and committee member since the club's inception in 2003. I was also part of the predecessor club so I suppose I'm part of the furniture (think overstuffed moth eaten old sofa and you won't be too wide of the mark)."
"As the years have passed my objectives and outlook have changed; my marathon days are probably behind me and over the last few years I generally haven't raced as much as I used to, but I hope to remedy that this year and my aim is to increase my training and hopefully my fitness levels."
"But whatever ups and downs I've experienced, being part of the club has remained very important to me and I know that if it hadn't been for the club training sessions I wouldn't have kept my running going as long as I have. The great thing about belonging to a running club is that it brings you into contact with people from all walks of life and of all ages who you probably wouldn't meet otherwise - I also value the club's social side and the friendships I have found by being a member."

"I got back into running in 2007 when I accepted the challenge to join my son in the Great North Run. The run itself was awesome but the lone running in preparation was a bit of a drag. Having bumped into the Stamford Striders at the Great Eastern Run that year I joined up and have been running with them, both socially and competitively ever since."

I'm comparatively new to running having only joined Stamford Striders in Jan 09, having spent 2 months building up to being able to run 5 miles. I'm one of the slowest runners on a Tuesday but have certainly never been left behind on my own. For some crazy reason I decided to challenge myself to run the Edinburgh Marathon on 31st March 09, with plenty of encouragement & advice from all the club members I achieve this in 4hrs 59mins & 12secs! This club really does welcome all levels!
